When it comes to any legal issue—especially family law—you need to be comfortable with your attorney. I earned my law degree in 1996 from the Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, California. Prior to this, I received an undergraduate degree in criminal justice from Ball State University in Indiana. I have lived in California for more than twenty years and am committed to serving the people of this community.
Before establishing my own practice, I worked for three years as a family law research attorney with the Monterey family court system. While there, I developed a close relationship with employees of the Department of Child Support Services (DCSS), the court staff, and with the family law judges.
As a family lawyer, I understand the legal system, its adversarial nature, and its often limited options when it comes to resolving disputes. As a result, I encourage my clients to use alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation and collaborative law, whenever appropriate. In this way, clients can maintain better control over the outcome of their case, preserve workable relationships with opponents, and keep costs lower.
